cuddle

So last weekend was finished off as follows:
I met up with Amanda and Lila/Lia/Liz at a party Lia's suite-mate was having.
Proportions: 20 girls and one gay guy.
We didn't stay for long.
We stopped by Kline because there was a weird speakeasy-themed party. People were dressed up: female performs in lingerie and males with tilted hats. Enough of the guests were dressed up that I felt a bit like the guy from Midnight in Paris with my modern-day-dress.
We briefly bumped into Clea and Britt, who dropped us off back in Lila's new dorm (she moved, and currently has a dingle (double used a single because only one person is living in it)
and star-gazed at the glow-in-the-dark stars on her ceiling and cuddled.
Amanda and I went back to the village around 2am.

additionally: Had breakfast with Jo yesterday, which was nice since we don't see each other often...Went to do hw with Ari's (was in her dorm in Manor for the first time)....Amanda dropped by to say goodbye last night and the night before I had a late-dinner with Andres (finally! he is elusive sometimes.) I also went to the freestore with Britt and found a pair of gray skinny jeans, after that we went to CVS to get floss, the most exciting item in the world.

drew landscapes outside for drawing when it wasn't windy. Really nice to just sit outside and draw.

We were supposed to watch Magnolia with Clea, Shivi, Armaan and Britt, but I left because it seems like a really good movie and I was just too tired to process it to the extent I want to, so I only saw the first 10 min.

leaving today at 7:30 with Jack. Still have to pack/clean my room but I have enough time.

so far

The weekend isn't even over yet but already so much seems to have happened. Excuse me as I rant, as per usual.

Thursday there was a back and forth (walking to Shivi's dorm, dropping off Britt's car by Robbins, then speeding off to Clea's off campus...and then driving back to campus to take the shuttle to The Swan. probably the least efficient way of doing all this.) Clea and Britt started the year going there every Thursday so they were trying to start it up again.
This was my first time at The Swan, its small, dark, wooden, and lively, especially since it was a Thursday night, and there were a ton of people from campus. There was live music (Bard students) which was nice, and I bumped into Kalena and Page and co. because it was Kalena's 21st birthday.
We left pretty early, at 12:30 on the shuttle from Tiv.

Next morning...gym (first time this year because I'm lazy and still scared of that place), nap, hung out with Ari for a good portion of the day. We had dinner and then stopped by Farm Fest briefly (fundraising to make a farm program at Bard or have a farm or both or something) went to Blithewood and further down to the Hudson River. It was so warm and we stayed for a while, though we left once the mosquitoes started coming out and dropped by Spruce because Anna had made food (we just had apple cider) before we parted ways.
At which point Britt dressed me up in 70's attire and I went to a film shoot that...was set in the 70's.
I think we have to shoot again after break, I'm just in the background fake dancing and talking to people and trying to pretend that there is music on. Bell bottom jeans and a vintage shirt.
Went back to...The moderation show for studio arts, which made me feel better about next semester when I will be doing the same thing. There was some really amazing stuff, a lot of diversity in the work, and a lot of people went to see it.
then...Ruger (an old toaster) and tried to watch Heathers (yes, again) with Britt and Clea but on youtube so it kind of failed, and then went to the Farm Fest, were I just watched people dance crazy and live music and guys tying and retying their towels from being in the giant inflatable pool.

and I just spent a good chunk of time talking to Amanda: it was one of those really good intense conversations, where a lot is communicated, which is why I'm putting it down as an event.

self-portraits

one I just did for hw
one I did for my portfolio in 2009

fighting the urge to just draw another self-portrait. one is all that was asked for, it's just a hw assignment and we aren't expected to spend forever one it. I should start my general moderation papers.
but but but...it almost look like me. I won't, but it's tempting to just start again and hope it looks a bit more like me than this one. I think the main reason it looks weird is that my paper was tilted, so it looks a lot more correct because that's how I was looking at the paper: one end leaning on my stomach, the other right by the mirror.
But of course, once it goes upright, my face turned out...the opposite of foreshortened.
that's my excuse anyway.I think I also exaggerated the differences in my eyes.

I guess I'm just frustrated because I know I can do better than this, definitely.

pudding is weakness

I've been getting a bit comfortable in the library. Eating pudding and watching things online for breaks. The solution is probably not to bring my laptop with me. Pudding from DTR is a new weakness.

Writing moderation paper for psych would have been fine if I wasn't freaking out the whole time about the fact that no one had stepped up to cover my driving shift, I think in part because it was St. Patrick's day that no one wanted the shift. I ended up taking the night shift to cover this other kid in my psych class who was hosting a post-writing party, because I felt guilty. I was so upset about that, because I wanted to sleep. Weirdly enough, I woke up the next morning to realize that no one needed to be driven, despite the fact that it was a St. Patrick's day Saturday night.
I was very grateful.

And it's done now. And I took a neuro exam essayer and handed in an observational report of research methods and took a nap instead of going to chamber singing because I woke up at 6:40 yesterday. So that's out.

I think that's it. I studied all of Sunday with Sumedah for neuro, so that was kinda fun. Britt came over for tea and Easter candy last night after Shivi Clea and I procrastinated from work on the roof of the campus center. It's really nice up there, and the night was warm, and people were playing Frisbee with a glow in the dark disk on the quad.
Also I was drawing Octopus People in Other Romanticisms today. I don't know what came over me, I just became very hypnotized by the process.

this was fun

Last Thursday I took out my braids, and Britt dressed me up as if it were the 90's, crimped hair and plaid, and we watched Clueless. Then at some point later in the week  I made banana bread,
which turned out really well (I doubled the recipe and made it in a cake pan.)

Friday Anna organized an ecoreps event where we made a really good salad. There was also a screening for a movie, but since the salad was my lunch and dinner it needed to be supplemented with something else, so I went to get more food. Here's the recipe:

Lentil Salad:

(on the recipe it said it should take 30-40min to prepare, and this is a recipe for 6 servings

Ingredients:
1 cup lentil
2 cups of water

1 cup of dry bulgur weat
2cup of boiling water

The dressing:
1/4 cup Olive oil
1/4 cup lemon juice
2 medium garlic cloves, crushed
1 tsp of salt
1/2 tsp of oregano
2 tbs freshly minced mint
2 to 3 tbs freshly minced dill
fresh black pepper to taste

(Ingredients to chop
1/4 cup freshly minced parsley(packed)
1/3 cup red onion
1 small bell pepper diced
1/2 stalk celery finely minced
(half a cup crumbling feta)
1 medium sized tomato, diced
1/2 cup chopped toasted walnuts

1/2 cup chopped toasted walnuts
(+squeezable wedges of lemon for garnish)

cook the lentils and the bulgar, let them cool.
Chop everything else. Add all the chopped ingredients (apart from the tomatoes) to the bulgur. Add the lentils. Mix all the ingredients for the dressing together and add to the mix. Add the tomatoes.

Then Saturday we tried to track down a party (Shivalika, Clea, Britt, Tamding, Armaan and a few others). We went to smog at like, 10:30 because Shivi had a friend who was djing there, danced it up in the empty space. When we tried to go to manor around 1am the party had already broken down, and we headed back to smog (just me, Britt and Cindy, who we kidnapped from her dorm on the way) it was totally empty, just the djs-very eery. So we didn't find anything, but it was still fun.

Tuesday I had breakfast at Manor for the first time, and my shoe broke on the way to neuro so I went to nuero and research methods barefoot. Amanda and Meg kept calling me a hippie, I had a long flowy skirt and everything.
Two nights ago I went for a night photo escapade with my tripod. I've always had this frustration with night photography that the camera can't capture what you see. It goes like this: Camera! You know there's a face there! stop being so blurry!
But with a tripod it can compound all the information it is getting, and see more than a human. It's awesome.
Stargon at night
also last night when I was walking back to my dorm, I saw a couple guys go into the woods. I was really confused as to where they were trying to get to that way until I heard peeing.
