Halloween 2011

Anna and I went trick or treating.
In Redhook. Some of the people did not appreciate that. Some were nice. A little kid on his way to bed (in his pjs) thought Anna was a dragon. One of the houses had a nice family and a firepit.

I didn't know until recently that Margaret has a tumbler. its me: here and here and i took this photo
and I was watching this and the guy with the banjo is studying to be a choral conductor so he conducts chamber singers sometimes.

I feel so special.
Also Mama: I appreciate the care package you sent me.

This is team Zissou. Minus Margaret. She was MIA :(

Halloweenish

Okay, so last weekend this happened:
we had pie. we had pie after seeing if there was a party at smog or manor. the one at manor was huge, spilling out onto the porch. but we only looked at it. it was hot. it was drunken. it was toga-themed though very few people stuck to that. so instead we went back and had pie that Margaret and Rosette made.

Friday Alana's friends from school came over. We went to watch the Tiger Lilies dressed in cheetah print sing. Lot's of dancing. Including a pikachu, but mostly not dressed up yet. We stayed up for a while after that...
Yesterday it as Margaret's birthday. Her bf Jack came. We see him a lot. Which is a good thing.
I am not sure what is going on in it.
We made her pumpkin spice cake (Rossette headed the expedition) and she got a few tea-related presents (t-shirt from me, mason jar mug, submarine tea infuser)
we didn't do that on purpose. It was also a little bit Sam's birthday party because his birthday was on Tuesday. so many October birthdays.

It was also the day everyone celebrated Halloween (because it's on a Monday this year...)
It had been snowing since noon so everything was cancelled. I don't think smog happened. A party in village L got bested before I could even get over there. There was a flood of ppl to village C when the one at L got busted.

anyway, I guess I ought to do work now.

and again...

Ghost World is turning out to be  a lot stranger than I thought it would be. waiting for it to buffer so I can finish watching it.
Adrienne is very much asleep, after being awake for about 40 hours, and additionally, the sleep she got before that was also fairly brief (I went to bed at 4 am that night, and she was still not in the room)

(photo: Will's birthday party this Monday. Hannah made him a ginger molasses cake so we had to come over)

I watched two movies in a row (but unlike this time, not alone) both for little kids.
Tangled (Rosette thought Flynn Rider was attractive)
and FernGully a really strange environmental cartoon that I remember seeing when I was in Israel. I couldn't sleep because of the evil fossil fuel thing (but I can tell you: I most certainly did not get the environmental message at age 7)

I also had a weird dream last night filled with very large animals including a comodo dragon and an owl that could like...get to almost my height by stretching out its body. If you howeled at them, they would come in closer and howl back, as if trying to speak. They did not mean any harm but were frighting by their size...I walked very quickly to the nearest house in case they suddenly decided to devour me..

Two Belligerents and a Drunk

finally done with these photos taken for The Fashion Committee at Bard with the ISO World Cup.
woot woot.

also: belligerent is not, contrary to popular misuse, a synonym for drunk.
I guess I'll have to get used to it.

goal for today: read a chapter and half of my psych textbook.
(if only it was just reading, it would go so much quicker...it's the note taking that is time consuming)

(photo taken between the hours of one and three in the morning)

two boys from Warren Wilson

friday afternoon:
bright orange and green nail polish
gray socks
white pants
throws his transparent yellow lighter at the couch across from him.
it bounces off instead of waking up his friend, all in blue, hugging himself on the red couch.

they were not here this morning when I had breakfast.
their hiking boots are under the table between them, and they are asleep on couches across from each other in the common room.

the first one just sat up
"hello"
"hi"
"don't mind us, we're just wanderers; but we are legally checked in"
gets up, goes to the bathroom.

(even the guys who visit Bard are short. nice smile though)
#2 is now hugging his pillow, in green pillow case.

we talked a while doing work. they are from Warren Wilson College, Asheville, NC and looked even stranger standing upright than when they were asleep. They were in my dorm (sleeping, showering, walking around with unbuttoned shirts, laughing  strange laughs, talking about gas and tolls and idk what else) because they had a friend's sister or something, and wanted a place to crash before going to NYC. except that NYC is less north than we are.
really I think they wanted to hang out at Bard for a bit, not sure why.
The sleepier one asked where we (Hannah and I) are from and then called me a Masshole. I guess that's all he knows about MA.
So awkward, the one with the nail polish also had his longish hair held back with a hair elastic, it looked really bad. They went out to play Frisbee, but they kinda sucked. But I'm sure they met some people. I was taking photos Saturday and then, at about 2 am, stinking of weed:

green pillow case: hey person--
me: hey
green pillow case: i think we've met
me: we have
hair band: we need help finding something
green pillow case: what are you doing? taking photos, obviously but...
me: what do you need help finding?
hair band: we were looking for the village
(i start pointing towards it)
green pillow case: no, no we weren't. are you busy? we just want to talk to someone. if you are then never mind
(i point at my camera and make face like...yes, a little)
green pillow case: okay, well, have fun then
me: you too.

We ended up back at the dorm at about the same time (3am) and I haven't seen them since.

edge of fall

a week before break my family came up to visit me. we went to Gigi's Trattoria and Папа didn't like it, but I did. There was this really intense pear pizza with goat cheese and aruglala and truffle oil that I can probably not have again for a while but was pretty awesome while I was eating it.
a bit overwhelming though.

I talked to everyone on the phone yesterday. I asked Shimon why he didn't kiss me goodbye. He said he didn't think he was going to miss me but that he was wrong.

Mama and I went to the MFA on Columbus day to see the Degas nudes exhibit. I liked the monotypes.

What else have I done...I took photos for the International Student Organization World Cup+The Fashion Committee, which reminds me that I need to convert them from raw and and that stuff.

dreams: I havn't written these down in a while...
There was one were I was in some city in Russia, and a freind that goes to Northeastern (Lina) was there too and we went...idk what it was, but we rolled down this massive hill past all these cars and then we cmae to a graveyard on a hill and flipped a switch for all these chirstmas lights to turn on. It was beutiful.

And another in which Yosef went to this boarding school for magic but he was late one day so he had to do summer school and then this evil witch who was plotting to destroy good (or some more concrete embodiment of good, that wasn't really important) place this OCD in him that would make him need to murder Shimon. But it could only be triggered if he came outside the walls of the school so she sent like...her son or nephew to befriend Yosef and get him outside the walls so she could do her magic (which was more powerful than her husband's magic)

And another in which I was murdered. And then this policeman went crazy trying to chase down the woman who killed, shooting all these innocent people in the chance, like this Korean family with twin girls and this very old lady. Ghost me was not happy.

which I had seen before and <3
which is also in French-I watched these with Adrienne and Rosette because they need to watch one movie in French per week for their French class.
because of which we might dress up as members of his crew.

photos: both for class. first one is of Cat, 2nd one of me.

in the reflections

so many mirrors reflecting eachother in the basement where I sleep.
home. three exams behind me, a day of fasting as well.
whatever is ahead of me I'm not actually thinking about.

spin spin but stuck in place.
