Apocalypse

Аnother TBL event on March 1st, I took pictures. Recording. Photos.

Hannah organized an Apocalypse-themed 21st birthday party. She sent us this wonderful e-mail:
The future's bleak.

But what better way to contemplate the end of days than among friends? Bring the most prophetic, escatological, oracular, orphic, portentous and revelatory verse you can find and let's test the efficacy of poetry as consolation--or curse--or call to arms.
This is what we read – (some of it isn't strictly apocalyptic):

Excerpts from Journals – Dorothy Wordsworth
A Slumber did my Spirit Seal – William Wordsworth

I had a dream in which I amidst the eternal war between Good and Evil. Big warriors, not all of them human, fought each other with spears and swords. But Good and Evil was pretty arbitrary, really the rules of fighting went like this: if a warrior saw two men fighting, he would decide who was justified in the fight (i.e. if he saw who started the fight, or on a previous fight he observed) and then attack one of the men based on his decision.
Then the powerful leaders of the lands came together and decided to end the war. They built a massive structure around the fighting grounds, like a circular bridge held up by large columns. If a warrior past through, they were no longer on a side, neutralized. To herd everyone through the columns (for they would otherwise simply fight forever) the ground began to crumble from the middle, like a sinkhole. I grabbed a man as he started to stumble under my arm and ran. Outside the columns, everyone stood in silence. But Gollum had been outside the structure when it was built. And so, he quietly shot a man with a poison arrow. Gollum, thin-boned and fragile, was crushed immediately, but it was too late: the Eternal War had been reignited.

  1. and this one i like immensely. both the idea of a theme party where people bring none of mundane costumes but vested in pieces of poetry and the dream.

    1. I can't take credit for dreaming, though I guess no one else can either. Personally I really like dressing up in costume occasionally i.e. Halloween is awesome, but yes, Hannah's birthday idea was great.
Well - whether or not you were inebriated, I make so many mistakes (in both languages) - that I really really can't judge someone else for doing so. I can judge you for not knowing whether or not you were drunk when you wrote that though)
